Instagram-ing Italy

When I visited Italy I was taking so many amazing pictures and I wanted to share them with people through my Instagram account BUT I also didn't want to be that person who was posting so much that others would get annoyed by the bombardment of pictures of someone on a vacation. I decided to just post one picture a day and re-cap the highlights of the day. Some people kept asking that I post more pictures but I still just wanted to keep it to just one post a day; I like to limit my posting with any trip.

One day I was even feeling a little weird about how may 'Italy" posts I had already made and decided I would skip that day and just double up a recap of two days with one picture the next day. That was, until one of the girls I was traveling with commented that I hadn't posted and she said, "I didn't get to read about what we did today!" She even was enjoying the recaps.

Overall it was fun to share the pictures and what we were up to each day but it was also nice, for myself, to have a little cliff-note journal of our trip.

Day 1: We're in Rome! Figured out the bus system, visited the Colosseum and the Palatino, ate Pizza and gelato (and plan to eat a whole lot more), have said, "grazie" and "ciao" several times but I really need to learn how to say "Sorry!," and just found out I have a bidet in my bathroom, hahaha. Ciao!
Day 5: Florence! We spent the morning on a train and the afternoon at the Boboli Gardens and threw in some market shopping, gnocchis and walking across the Ponte Vecchio Golden Bridge. I already like Florence better than Rome; it's more calm and personal. Ciao!
Day 8: Venice! Gondola ride, Rialto Bridge, water buses and taxis, San Marcos Square, Murano Island, and finding the best hole in the wall gelato shops, hot chocolate shops and restaurant Caio!

Foods from Trips that I'm Still Craving

Have you ever been traveling and eaten something at a hole-in-the-wall place or place that is authentic to that community only? And did that something you ate taste amazing? AND now that you are back home you can't find anything else like it and you're craving it like mad?

One of the great things about traveling is the food you get to eat. I think it is fun to try and eat at places you cannot usually eat at when you are home. I also like to try new things when I can as well. The only bad thing about eating at places that you cannot eat at when home is when you get a strong craving for that food only to realize it is out of reach. Here are some things I have eaten on my travels that I find myself craving.

Coney Island Burger from Stardust Diner in Times Square, New York
Connecticut Part 2: New York
Clam Chowder and Stuffed Mushroom Tops from Maine Diner
Maine 2012
Tom Brady Burger from Bartley's in Harvard Square
Boston/DC/NYC Road trip 2013
Bread/rolls from food stands and tiny stores in Peru
Peru: Arequipa
Unlimited available ice cream on a cruise
Riviera Cruise 2012
Duck Doughnuts in Duck Beach, NC
Duck Beach, NC
Beignets from New Orleans from Cafe De Monde's French Market Coffee Stand
